Old Mutual Money Market Fund

The Old Mutual Money Market Fund is an efficient investment medium whereby investors can participate in a diversified portfolio of debt securities, cash holdings, fixed deposit instruments or near cash in the Malawi market (e.g. Treasury Bills and government bonds) while offering maximum security to the unit holders.

Investment Portfolio

Up to 95% of the fund can be invested in interest-bearing assets with 5% in near cash deposits. Market conditions may prompt us to invest more in near cash deposits - up to 95%.

The investment matrix includes term deposits, commercial paper and government securities with maturity of less than one year.

Risk Profile

This fund is suitable for the conservative low risk investor who would like to have a safe parking place for their funds.

It is ideal during times of stock market turbulence and uncertainty and perfect for investors who would like to benefit from the yield / interest earned. It is advisable to invest for at least a year.

  • The price of the Old Mutual Money Market Fund is 100 Tambala* and remains static.
  • The yield changes on a daily basis.
  • Interest is calculated on a daily basis, and credited to your account quarterly.

*Tambala is the unit of the Malawian Kwacha. 100 Tambala = MK100.

Additional Purchases

You will be able to make additional purchases into your Old Mutual unit trusts. This may be applied for in writing by completing a buying form. The minimum monthly investment or top up amount is
MK30 000.

Distribution

The Old Mutual Money Market Fund will distribute income on a quarterly basis. Income distributed in the Money Market Fund consists of interest accrued from the purchased assets of the Fund.

The returns vary according to the yield earned each month.
